The Mayor of Clare has called on the government to prioritise the extension of the M18 motorway, a move which he feels could help Shannon Airport.
While plans are in place for a 57km extension of the route from Gort to Tuam, taking in Galway City, the Transport Minister has recently told the Dail that construction of the route is contingent on the sale of state assets.
However, Councillor Pat Daly feels swift action on the route would help Shannon’s recovery by expanding it’s potential customer base.
