The Mayor of Clare has donated part of his Christmas card allowance to local efforts to assist those in the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.
The Clare Filipino Community has carried out a collection throughout the county in recent weeks, and their efforts have been bolstered by the 500 euro donation from Councillor Joe Arkins.
The other half of his allowance has been donated to the Clare Branch of the Irish Kidney Association, and the Mayor has extended his Christmas greetings to the entire county.
