Mayor of Clare set to call meeting over budget reduction

The Mayor of Clare is planning to call a special meeting of Clare County Council next week to discuss the fallout from the Environment Minister’s decision not to release their full budget allocation for 2012.

Pat Daly has expressed his deep frustration after it emerged that 240 thousand euro in cutsbacks  wont be restored despite pledges from Clare’s two Fine Gael TDs that the monies would be released if the council boosted its Household Charge compliance rate.

The rate here is now two percent higher than the target set by Minister Phil Hogan but his department says the local authority will only receive the full allocation for the final quarter of 2012.

Mayor Daly is very concerned about the impact this will have and wants Deputies Breen and Carey to attend the council meeting to explain the situation
