It’s emerged that Clare multi millionaire and former general election candidate JJ McCabe is going into the hotel business.
The Clarecastle Batcher is the mystery buyer of two hotels in Ennis and Kilkee that went under the hammer in the Allsops auction early this month.
He paid a total of 625 thousand euro for the Ashford Court in Clare’s County town and the Kilkee Bay Hotel – which initially failed to sell at the auction but was later purchased by Mr McCabe.
The 74 year old says he plans to have the Kilkee Bay open for the summer season with discos and other entertainment events, while he also plans to reopen the Ennis hotel in some form.
