25 beds at Dooradoyle are set to close from this morning, while overtime and agency payments will be halved as the Health Service Executive attempts to reduce the hospital’s 14 million euro deficit.

It’s rejected pleas from nursing unions to delay the measures and has admitted it will affect patient services.

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation in the Mid West meet today to discuss the cuts.

Clare County Councillor and member of the Regional Health Forum West says patients are concerned.
