Midwest Simon is warning of a Tsunami of homelessness in this region, if the Government doesn’t rapidly increase housing stock.

It comes as the latest Department of Housing figures show record levels of homelessness across the country, with more than 13,000 adults in emergency accommodation in October, 68 of those in Clare.

The homeless charity’s Regional Manager for Emergency Accommodation says they’ve witnessed a significant increase in referrals, with more people in full-time employment, who are at risk of homelessness reaching out for assistance.

Jonathan Shinnors has described the current levels of homelessness as a national crisis and says urgent action is needed.
