The Education Minister is not getting involved in calls by Clare County Council for the University of Limerick to be renamed.

As the university continues to expand on the Clare side of the River Shannon, Councillors have argued that the University should be given a new moniker to reflect that it is now located in two counties.
A motion calling on Jan O'Sullivan to change its name to the University of Limerick and Clare was passed in March, but now the Minister has told the County Council that the request would have to come from UL's governing authority.
At the time that the Council passed its motion, UL declined to comment.
