An motorist has tested positive for cocaine while driving in Ennis.
After 1 a.m. this morning, Gardaí observed a vehicle which had to brake suddenly to avoid pulling out in front of an unmarked patrol vehicle at a roundabout in the town.
The vehicle was stopped, and a subsequent roadside test found that the driver tested postive for cocaine.
A court appearance is to follow for the driver concerned.
Recently, Clare Gardaí revealed an increase in the number of drivers caught driving under the influence, and attributed this to their ability to carry out roadside tests for drug driving.
