Traditional music lovers from far and beyond are descending on East Clare today to participate in this year’s edition of a legendary festival.
The 37th Feakle International Festival of Traditional Irish Music gets underway this evening with a special event in the community hall to honour longtime festival statwart Martin Hayes’s contribution over the past 30 years.
A programme of workshops, sessions, céilís, concerts and more awaits attendees over the coming days with Cormac Begley, Jack Talty, Danny O’Mahony, Meabh Begley and Jackie Daly among those set to grace the streets of the village.
Maghera native and member of the festival’s organising committee Aoife Hayes says the distance people travel to be in Feakle for these few days never ceases to amaze her.
