Nearly 200 Children Homeless In Clare And Limerick

Nearly 200 children across Clare and Limerick are living in homelessness.

The number of people in emergency accommodation in the Midwest region has risen once again as homeless figures nationwide have hit a record high.

As of July 28th, 75 adults are availing of emergency accommodation in Clare.

Coupled with the figures from Limerick, this brings the total number of people homeless in the Midwest to 517 which is up nearly 4% on the previous month.

Across the region, 110 families are accessing homelessness accommodation – 65 of which are single-parent families.

The number of children homeless in Clare and Limerick has increased from 188 at the end of June to 191 at the end of July.

This accounts for over 4% of the total number of homeless children in Ireland which has climbed to 4,401.

In total, there were 14,429 availing of emergency accommodation at the end of July which is the highest figure ever recorded in the State.
