New funding announced for the development of a Blueway around Lough Derg has been hailed as significant for tourism in East Clare.
200,000 euro has been allocated by government under the Rural Economic Development Zones initiative, or REDZ, with a portion to be used to complete the Lough Derg Canoe Trail.
The project is managed by a number of statutory bodies, and its aim is to enhance tourism and, in turn, the local economy.
Fine Gael TD Joe Carey says the funding will help do just that
