New hedgecutting policy to be put in place

Clare Councillors are to adopt a whole county approach to hedgecutting in Clare.

Councillors say a standard policy to maintaining the county’s hedgerows will decide which roads need to be prioritised and in which areas. 

However the move could see landowners and farmers paying for the service provided by Clare County Council or having to undertake the work themselves.

At present only landowners in East Clare receive letters reminding them of their responsibility in maintaining hedges and margins.
