As the Rose of Tralee Festival gets underway, one of the contestants has been celebrating her County Clare roots.

New Zealand Rose Alana Marshall was presented with a Certificate of Irish Heritage at Croke Park, Dublin in honour of her great, great grandfather, Michael Flanagan, who left Ennis for New Zealand in 1864.

Alana even donned a Clare Jersey as she received the Government document, signed by An Tánaiste , Eamon Gilmore, as an official recognition of her links to the Banner County, and said Ennis has felt like home when she’s visited in the past.
