No Decision Yet On Pedestrianising Ennis

Further talks have been held on the possible pedestrianisation of Ennis Town Centre.

Ennis Councillors discussed the issue in a teleconference meeting yesterday, when it was agreed that further discussions would be held with all stakeholders and a full plan be drawn up.

It’s understood that a number of business representatives, and other civic groups, took part in another virtual meeting too.

It comes after an Ennis Chamber survey, in association with Clare FM, found that 70% of respondents wanted pedestrianisation to be implemented in order to facilitate social distancing in the town centre.

Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard is in favour of the move, but says those with valid concerns need to be listened to.
