Non-Irish Citizens May Serve On Juries Here

Foreigners who have lived in Ireland for five years or more should qualify for jury service.

That’s according to recommendations from a report by the law reform commission on jury service.

The report takes account of concerns that the existing law for jury selection does not involve selection of juries from panels that are representative of the community.

Another concern is the extent to which wireless technology might allow jurors in the jury room to search online for information about an accused rather than limit their decision to the evidence presented.
