A leading homeless services provider in this region insists raising the amount families recieve through HAP in Clare would help prevent homelessness.

The number of families seeking help in the Midwest has risen sharply from 29 to 50 in twelve months, while the number of children without a home in the region has almost doubled.

Presentations to Clare County Council’s Homeless Action Team are also on the rise.

Head of Policy and Communications with Novas Una Burns believes rising the amount families recieve through HAP in this county instead of moving them to emergency accommodation would be the ideal solution.
