Number of Clare residents named on tax defaulters list

A Sixmilebridge based property developer and a café in Liscannor have been listed on the latest Revenue Commissioners list of tax defaulters who made payments in excess of 50 thousand euro.

A Cratloe accountant also made a settlement of over 10, thousand euro for failing to lodge Vat returns while a taxi driver in Kilimer and a Tulla farmer faced charges relating to the misuse of marked mineral oil.

The latest quarterly figures from the Revenue Commissioners- which run from April to June include a total of six business or individuals in Clare.

The largest settlement was made by  Rosan Development Ltd-of 46 Ashview Drive, Sixmilebridge which was subject to a settlement of over 61 thousand euro for under-declaration of VAT and Relevant Contracts Tax-

An Cafe Beag, based at Clahane, Liscannor also made a substantial settlement of 60 thousand euro, including 15 thousand worth of interest and penalties, for an under declaration of VAT.

Both came following audits carried out by Revenue.

The figures also include details of the 6 year sentence handed down to Derek Floyd of 21 Lower Main Street Tulla, for 27 counts of failing to lodge Vat Returns, while accountant Kieran O’Halloran of Setrights Cross in Cratloe – made a settlement of 12,250 for the same offence and a further 1,250 for the non filing of statement of affairs.

Smaller payments were also made by a taxi driver from Killimer ,Kilrush and a farmer from Ballyblood in Tulla for the misuse of marked mineral oil or green fuel, while a 2 and a half thousand file was handed down to a individual from Killaloe for the illegal selling of cigarattes.
