The HSE being told that 25 medical beds closed in Ennis General must be replaced  in order to help address the ongoing chronic overcrowding at Dooradoyle.

New figures today show there were 32 patients in the emergency department at the region’s main hospital this morning awaiting admission for a bed, 6 of which are blocked due to the Winter Vomiting Bug.

However the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say there are a further 18 people on trolleys on the wards and in the corridors bringing the number to 50.

Mid West Spokesperson Mary Fogarty says bed closures in Clare have added to the problem which they fear will only get worse when further services are transferred from Ennis
