The Irish Nurses and midwives Organisation is threatening industrial action over persistent overcrowding at hosptials across the country.

The union has criticised the response from the Health Services Executive and the Health and Safety Authority to record levels of overcrowding during the summer months.

It claims that in some hospitals, such as University Hospital Limerick, fire safety reports are not being adhered to.

The INMO has referred the issue back to the Workplace Relations Commission, with a date awaited ans says that without real focus and input they’ll have no other option but to discuss industrial action with members in emergency departments.
