Opposition parties are calling on the Health Minister to resign after former Junior Minister Roisin Shortall accused him of ‘stroke politics’ and said he had blocked attempts to reform the health service.

In an interview this morning, Ms Shortall said James Reilly drove former HSE Chief Cathal Magee from his position.

And she described the Health Minister’s decision to locate two primary care centres in his constituency as "stroke politics."

Fianna Fail say it’s evidence of the ‘dysfunction’ of the Department under James Reilly’s leadership.

And Sinn Féin’s Health Spokesperson Caoimhghin O Caolain says the Health Minister must be removed from his position.
