Three heritage sites across Clare are free to access for visitors today.

Entry fees for Ennis Friary, for Dromore Wood at Ruan and for Scattery Island off Kilrush will be waived today under a new scheme by the Office of Public Works.

The Minister Responsible for the group, Brian Hayes, has announced that all sites managed by the OPW will be free to visitors on the first Wednesday of every month

It’s hoped the scheme will encourage visits by a wider section of communities living in Ireland, as well as extra visitors from abroad
