According to figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, nearly 17,500 cars were purchased through the scheme nationally last year, with Renault models proving the most popular choice.

Overall, the group has reported a 55% increase in business annually, and says that strong footfall has been reported in the country’s show rooms in the opening weeks of 2011, a sign which it says bodes well for the months ahead.
As part of budget 2011, the Government announced that the scheme will continue for the first six months of this year.
