Congestion at Ennis General Hospital doesn’t appear to have improved as hoped.

Figures from the Irish Nursing Organisation yesterday revealed there were 17 patients left waiting for a bed at the County Hospital, up from 12 on Monday.

The HSE had disputed the earlier figures stating that a number of patients are being accommodated in an overflow ward.

However a spokesperson for the INO says the situation has worsened over the space of 24 hours and that nursing staff don’t expect the numbers of patients waiting for admission to improve in the coming hours
