The in-person event planned for the switching on of the Christmas lights in Ennis has been called-off in favour of a virtual ceremony.
Clare County Council says the decision was taken on the back of public health advice and in light of the 6,000 spectators that were expected to attend.
The local authority will instead organise a virtual celebration on November 26th instead.
Leonore O’Neill, Senior Executive Officer of the Ennis Municipal District says they’re still encouraging people to visit Ennis in the run up to the festive period.
