It’s hoped the next phase of flood relief works for Ennis will be underway by the end of the year.

Phase two of the Ennis Flood Relief Scheme, which includes construction works from Bank Place Bridge to Knox’s Bridge and surface water works, in the Clonroad, Cappahard and Clarecastle areas, is expected to take 18 months to complete.

Tenders for the project have been received by the Office of Public Works and once the contract is awarded a final budget allocation will be announced.

Clare Fine Gael Deputy Joe Carey says severe flooding, and it’s impact on residents and businesses, will be a thing of the past.
