Clare’s Chief Superintendent says plans to establish a dedicated economic crime unit in the county are still in the pipeline.
The suggestion was mooted following a spike in fraud crimes in Clare towards the back end of 2021.

However, this week’s meeting of the county’s Joint Policing Committee such incidents fell by nearly 20 percent between January and April.
Chief Superintendent of the Clare Garda Division, Sean Colleran, says Gardai here won’t be getting complacent despite the recent drop.
