Plans Lodged For New 122 Space Car Park In Ennis

Clare County Council has unveiled its plans for a new public car park in Ennis.

The proposed development located at the Waterpark Campus in Drumbiggle would provide a total of 122 spaces.

The new car park would consist of 70 public bays and 52 bays that would be provided for staff.

While on the existing Car Park at the Drumbiggle Road, eight more spaces will be converted for universal access (disabled bays) and a further six bays will be equipped with Electric Vehicle charging points.

This would bring the total number of spaces available on the Waterpark Campus to 136.

Additionally, bicycle stands would also be installed on the entrance road to the Council owned site.

The proposal also includes plans for ancillary alterations to footpaths and the potential provision of a gym area.

A traffic and transport assessment submitted alongside the application indicates that during peak hours , the car park is likely to handle 67 arrivals and 34 departures in the morning and 64 departures in the evening.

The local authority’s planning office is accepting public submissions on the proposed development up until the 8th of March, before a final decision is made on the development in May.
