Local Politics “Less Attractive” Admits Retiring Councillor

A retiring councillor in Clare admits sitting on the County Council as an elected representative is becoming less of an attractive prospect for people.

This month will see an influx of new blood come into the council chambers in Clare, with five of the 28 sitting councillors stepping down; while 51 names in total will battle it out for a seat.

But that number is well back on the 69 would-be councillors that put their name in the hat in the 2014 local elections.
