The make of the new body set to over see the Independent Shannon Airport has moved another step forward.

Candidates are now being sought for the position of Chief Executive Officer who would be responsible for the commercial operation of the airport and the International Aviation Services Centre.

Advertisements for the post have appeared in today’s Irish Times.

It comes as current airport management insist that targeted passenger numbers for 2013 will be met despite the huge drop in numbers last year-

1.39 million people passed through the terminal – the lowest since the 1980’s with the decline in troop traffic accounting for a large potion of the drop

Management at the now independent airport are targeting a growth of around 370,000 passengers this year, but director Mary Considine is confident this will occur.
