The President of Ireland says the Ennis Tidy Towns group provides a ‘great base’ for wider society changes needed on account of the climate emergency.

Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina yesterday visited his alma mater of St Flannan’s College to unveil the plaque marking the group’s success in the 2021 competition.

President Higgins widely praised young people and called for continued priority to be put on climate measures in a speech attended by hundreds of people.

Speaking with Clare FM, he says it’s important such community and voluntary groups continue to enjoy their work.
