The head of the MidWest Hospital Group is being urged to ensure that further  capital projects at Ennis General aren’t stalled with the departure of Frank Keane.

The manager of Clare’s County Hospital today takes up a new role in Limerick as head of maternity and child health for the six hospital across the Mid West Region.

Its raised concerns about further progress at Ennis General and comes as the HSE confirms a reduction in the hospital’s health services with the removal of the High Dependency Unit over Christmas- those beds are now being used for general medical patients.

In spite of this, The Executive is satisfied that the new system is providing a better service to the public – however, Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen says questions remain.
