Retailers Of Ennis Chair Claims Traders Will Not Benefit From Abbey Street Redevelopment

The Chair of the Retailers of Ennis group insists traders in the town will not benefit from the Abbey Street Redevelopment.

Traders are due to meet to discuss the project, which forms a key component of the Ennis 2040 plan, and will see a mixed use office and retail building constructed on the current car park site.

It follows a demonstration over the weekend, which saw protestors voicing opposition to the potential demolition of six cottages on Francis Street in the town in favour of a temporary car park to facilitate the Abbey Street works.

 

John O’Connor from Custy’s Music Shop in Ennis says he believes the local authority needs to read the mood of local retailers.
