The government’s €4 billion Rural Development Programme is being welcomed as a way of spreading Ireland's Economic recovery to farm communities in Clare.
The funds include grants available through the new Agri-Environment Scheme of up to €5,000 for farmers, with extra top ups of up to €2,000 for farmers who take on particularly challenging environmental actions.
Further disadvantaged area payments, a new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme and Beef Data programme are also included in the six year plan which the government says is aimed at creating jobs in rural Ireland and the agri-food sector.
