Serious Road Traffic Accident In West Clare

A man has been airlifted to hospital and two others have been injured following a road traffic accident in West Clare.

The two-car collision occured at Cranny Cross on the main Ennis-Kilrush Road  before 12 o'clock today.

Gardaí attended the scene, along with ambulances from Ennis and Ennistymon as well as three units of the fire service from Kilrush.

The woman airlifted to hospital was taken to University Hospital Limerick, while two other people who were also hurt in the collision – it's understood they are in a stable condition.

The N68 Ennis-Kilrush Road will remain closed for a number of hours to allow for a forensic examination of the scene to be carried out.
