Budget references to Shannon Airport have received a broad welcome in the region.

The Finance Minister announced he’s putting measures in place to facilitate construction of hangers and facilities to attract more aviation organisations to the country and he’s also to examine the feasibility of new funding sources for airlines and aircraft companies.

The measures were proposed by the Task Forces for the new International Services Centre in Shannon and in a statement to Clare FM, Rose Hynes – who chaired the aviation Task Force  – described the plans as a timely boost for Shannon Airport following the announcement of its separation.

She added the measures will be advantageous to plans to build sustainable passenger growth at Shannon as well as transforming the airport into a major international centre for aviation related business.
