Shannon Airport has resumed operations this lunchtime following a temporary closure last night.

The Clare base was stood down at 11.00pm last night due to unexpected heavy fog during a period of essential taxiway maintenance.

A number of flights were subsequently cancelled and diverted as a result and the Shannon Airport Group is still expecting some disruptions to the flight schedule throughout the day.

Passengers are being advised to to check with their respective airlines for the most up-to-date information on their flights.

Shannon Airport Group Statement

“We are pleased to announce that Shannon Airport has now reopened and resumed normal operations as of 1.00pm. However, we anticipate there will be some disruptions to the flight schedule throughout the day, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause to our passengers.

“We wish to advise passengers traveling today to check with their respective airlines for the most up-to-date information on their flights. Our airport staff and airline partners will continue to work to minimise any further delays or disruptions, and we appreciate your understanding at this time.”
