Shannon passengers could face major disruption

Passengers intending to fly from Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports in the coming weeks face an anxious wait, as SIPTU warns industrial action against Aer Lingus is inevitible.

The trade union yesterday criticised the airline for refusing to meet directly with it’s representatives, claiming that this has led to the breakdown of talks in their ongoing row over a 748 million euro pension defecit.

The airline, however, says it’s at a loss as to why SIPTU has made these claims, and insists it remains committed to finding a solution.

SIPTU organiser Dermot O’Loughlin hopes this is the case, but says a change in attitude is needed from Aer Lingus.
