Shannon has scooped a top EU prize.

Clare second largest town was awarded the European Diploma of the Council of Europe in recognition of its efforts to promote the idea of European unity.
It received the prize for what was described by Clare Labour TD Michael McNamara as the town’s distinguished record through its 20 year twinning programme with Guingamp in Brittany.
