There has been a slight cooling in rental inflation in Clare, despite the county seeing one of the biggest rent increases in the country.

The cost of renting a home in the banner has jumped by more than 14% in the past year, which is significantly above the national average of 12%.

The latest report from property website daft.ie shows tenants were forking out €1,109 on average every month for accommodation here in the first quarter of this year.

Author of the report, economist Ronan Lyons has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that rent rises should be in line with inflation, but supply issues are continuing to push prices up.
