Enda Kenny made the call as he used Dáil privilege to claim the Sinn Féin leader had driven Mr Stack's son in a blacked-out van to a house where the IRA accepted responsibility for the killing.

Austin Stack says Deputy Adams and a Sinn Fein press officer accompanied him on the trip in August 2013.

Responding to questions from the Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin, Enda Kenny urged Deputy Adams to make a full statement:
