Threshold Claims Evictions Inevitable In Clare As People Unable To Afford To Live In Community Of Choice

A leading housing charity says evictions and an increase in homelessness is inevitable as the cost of living in Clare increases.

A new survey shows that 60% of people under the age of 35 can’t afford to live in the community they’d like to, with 41% unable to live where they grew up.

The Reflecting Ireland analysis comes in the wake of the latest Daft.ie report which puts the average rental price in this at €1,145.

 

Karina Timothy, Threshold’s Western Regional Services Manager is warning that this will place increased pressure on the local authority to provide emergency accommodation.
