The Transport Minister has confirmed Aer Rianta International will remain in the hands of the DAA, once Shannon Airport is separated from the authority.
There have been repeated calls on the government by local representatives, key business and tourism figures along with a former airport director for ARI to remain within the remit of Shannon to fund it going forward.
ARI, which is one of the world’s longest-established travel retail companies, was founded at The Mid West Airport Airport and generated millions of euro for the state.
However, speaking in the Dáil last evening, Minister Leo Varadkar insisted its has to remain with the DAA group.
