Tree throwing in Ennis today

There’s expected to be a flying trade in Christmas Trees in Ennis today – and its all in the aid of charity !

The second annual "Christmas tree throwing championships is taking place at Lees Road between 10 and 4  and will see members of the public competing to beat the irish distance for throwing a standard 1.5 metre tree!.

The inaugural event last year was won by Clare man Paul Dignan who beat off competition from 150 other participants with his 7 metre throw.

All proceeds raised during the contest which is orgainsed by Ennis Town and Clare County Councils will go towards the Clare Branch of Cystic Fibrosis.

Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy says funds raised will all go towards local initiatives
