The death has taken place of former Shannon Town Clerk, Tomáis MacCormaic.

A native of Kilkishen, Tomáis MacCormaic was well known in Shannon Town and worked in the local authority from 1982 until 2009.

The former Town Clerk is survived by his sons, daughters and grandchildren and last night’s meeting of Shannon Town Council was adjourned as a mark of respect following news of his sudden death.

Meanwhile, last evening’s meeting of Ennis Town Council was also adjourned as a mark of respect to the late Frank O’Dea – who died last week.

The former Editor of the Clare Champion and founding director of Clare FM was father of Ennis Town Engineer, Eamon O’Dea to whom sympathies were offered at the meeting.
