Tributes are pouring in for a father who died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Lahinch yesterday.
Fran Harding lost his life in the tragedy yesterday morning, less than two years after his son, 15-year-old Shay Moloney, drowned alongside his friend Jack Kenneally at a disused quarry just outside of Ennis.
Fran was also expecting a new baby later this year, with his wife Sarah-Jane.
The alarm was raised shortly before 11am yesterday when he got into difficulty swimming at Lahinch and despite rescue crews locating him, he was later pronounced dead at University Hospital Limerick.
Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard, who knows the family, says it’s an indescribable heartbreak.
Meanwhile, Éire Óg GAA club in Ennis has paid tribute to Tipperary native Mr Harding, who hurled with the club’s Junior B team for two years after moving to Clare.
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Mr Fran Harding. The Tipperary native hurled for two years with our Junior B team after moving to Clare.
