The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is almost double that of any other hospital in the country.
The latest figures from the INMO show 48 patients were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 35 of those in the emergency department.
The overall figure is 23 more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when 170 patients have been left waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
