The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is more than double that of the next busiest facility today.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 112 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 46 of those in the ED.

The overall figure is 55 more than the next busiest hospital; Galway University Hospital, and represents around a fifth of all those waiting for beds at hospitals across the country today.
