The Teachers Union of Ireland is to begin a sustained campaign to restore equal pay to new teachers entering the profession.

Changes announced by the Government this week mean new entrants will no longer receive qualification allowances worth 4,500 euro annually.
The starting salary has also been cut to just over 30 thousand euro.
The TUI says these changes represent a 22 per cent drop on the earnings of a similarly qualified teachers who started just two years ago.
