Nurses say there are currently 30 people waiting for beds in Dooradoyle today, 16 of those in the Emergency Department.

The region's main hospital had the most overcrowded ED in Ireland for 3 out of 5 days last week, peaking at 41 last Monday.

It total, there are 302 people waiting in hospitals around the country today.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister says there's no plans to close emergency departments or remove services from them.

It's after reports in the Sunday Business Post that trauma care would be removed from nine hospitals.

They're part of recommendations from an unpublished report, which the minister says he hasn't seen yet.

Minister Simon Harris said there may need to be changes to how trauma services are distributed, but that won't mean closing EDs.
