UL Bio-Med Lecturer Believes More Understanding Around Concussions Needed

A University of Limerick Bio-med Lecturer believes there needs to be more understanding around concussions and head injuries.

It follows the announcement that the Irish Rugby Injury Surveillance (IRIS) project based at UL and healthcare provider UPMC are to begin working together to advance the understanding of treatment of concussions.

A survey done by UPMC, meanwhile, found a quarter of people aged 18-24 claim to have suffered a concussion previously with almost 30% of those who have had a concussion claiming they did not seek a clinical evaluation.
